Product Design Foundations
Designing a product people can actually use: finding the real problem before solving it, testing something rough, and the states nobody designs until a user finds them.
Written in house, from the work rather than from a syllabus. Every example is one we would use ourselves, and every quiz question explains why its answer is right.
What you’ll learn
- Separate the problem from the solution, and resist solving too early
- Run a usability test that produces findings rather than compliments
- Organise content around what users are trying to do
- Design the empty, loading and error states as first-class screens
- Give and take critique that improves the work
- Recognise a dark pattern, and argue against one in commercial terms
Before you start
- · No design experience required
- · Helpful to have used a product you found frustrating
